I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in 2008 and instead of going into practice (for a variety of reasons) I got a job there in the eMedia Unit where I worked as a consultant developer. Broadly speaking my work involved looking for ways to improve the curriculum through the use of technology; whilst there I developed a system for capturing clinical cases, did some teaching and also became involved in WikiVet. After 5 years with the RVC I joined Surrey’s new vet school in 2013 as the eLearning Coordinator.
My time at Surrey has been spent looking to improve our curriculum and incorporate technology, where appropriate, to enhance how the school functions. I’ve also been teaching, and now coordinating, a first-year professional skills module. I chair our Student Staff Liaison Committee, which acts as an interface between staff and students. Since January 2016 I’ve also been the Undergraduate Admissions Tutor.
