The British Small Animal Veterinary Association is a leading professional membership organisation supporting more than 10,000 veterinary professionals in the UK and beyond.

We provide industry-leading publications, education and CPD, fund small animal research and represent the profession on issues that matter to the veterinary community.

Our aim is to give veterinary professionals the knowledge, resources and community they need to thrive and deliver exceptional care.

We are also committed to sustainability and supporting our wider communities, including through paid volunteering leave.
We expect all staff to always maintain and promote our values, which are to:
  • Nurture and support our communities
  • Aim for excellence in all that we do
  • Strive to be bold and innovative
  • Be accountable and trustworthy
  • Be rigorous and evidence-led
At BSAVA, we aim to create a working environment that is supportive, collaborative and flexible.

Depending on the role, employees can benefit from hybrid working, combining time at home with time in our modern office near Gloucester, where there is free onsite parking and plenty of opportunity to connect with colleagues.

We want people to feel supported both professionally and personally, so we invest in learning and development, wellbeing support, enhanced family leave and flexible working.

We also offer a generous pension scheme, a generous holiday entitlement, private medical cover after 12 months, life assurance and regular social activities.
People who do well here tend to be collaborative, dependable and proactive.

They take ownership of their work, care about doing things well and are comfortable adapting as priorities change.

They communicate openly, support their colleagues and are willing to contribute ideas rather than simply wait to be told what to do.

Above all, they share our commitment to quality, learning and supporting the veterinary community.
We want employees to feel supported through the different stages of family life. Our family-friendly benefits include enhanced maternity, adoption and paternity pay, shared parental leave and support for fertility treatment.
We offer all employees flexible working opportunities in accordance with statutory provisions.

We offer hybrid working where full-time employees can work from home up to two days per week. Some roles are also recruited for on a remote working basis within the UK.
We are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive workplace where everyone is treated fairly, respected and able to thrive.

Our approach to EDI is reflected in the way we recruit, develop and support our people, with fair and objective processes designed to promote equal opportunity and remove unnecessary barriers.

We expect everyone at BSAVA to contribute to an inclusive culture by treating colleagues with respect, valuing different backgrounds and perspectives, and speaking up where something could be improved.
Sustainability is an important part of how we work at BSAVA. We have achieved Green Accreditation from Investors in the Environment, the scheme’s highest level, recognising the progress we have made in reducing our environmental impact.

Our redevelopment of Woodrow House has focused on energy efficiency and the use of sustainable and recycled materials, alongside initiatives such as solar panels and electric vehicle charging.

We continue to reduce our environmental impact through carbon monitoring, responsible use of energy and resources, recycling and reuse, sustainable procurement and consideration of the environmental impact of travel and transport. ESG considerations also form part of our approach to investing the Association’s reserves.

Our commitment extends beyond our own operations. We support more sustainable veterinary practice through education, information and collaboration with other veterinary organisations, and everyone at BSAVA has a part to play in helping us continue to improve.
Animal welfare is central to BSAVA’s work. We support the veterinary profession through evidence-based policy, clinical resources, education and practical guidance designed to promote high standards of welfare across companion animal practice.

We also recognise that cost and other barriers can affect owners’ ability to access veterinary care. BSAVA provides resources to help veterinary teams discuss costs openly, support informed client choice and manage cases within financial constraints.

Our work with other veterinary organisations has also promoted greater transparency and contextualised care, helping veterinary teams consider clinically appropriate options that take account of the circumstances of both the animal and owner.
