Njurundas Veterinärklinik is an advanced care facility created and led by two CertAVPs with experience in the UK, Germany and Sweden. Our ethos is rooted in delivering excellent veterinary care through a friendly, team-driven, and drama-free environment.

We are a smaller clinic, which allows us to maintain a relaxed, supportive atmosphere for both clients and staff. All team members- including leadership- work clinically, meaning decision-making is grounded in day-to-day realities. You’ll be heard, respected, and understood.

Our caseload is a mixture of first opinion and referral-level work, with strengths in soft tissue surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, and exotic medicine. We are keen to expand our referral caseload, particularly in orthopaedics, and are happy to invest in new services led by team members.

Typically, we manage our patients from consult through to diagnosis, treatment, and aftercare. We pride ourselves on strong client relationships and a trusted clinical reputation in the region.

Living in Northern Sweden

  • Remote but rich in nature: Our town has forests, a ski slope, beaches, and a beautiful coastline within 10 minutes of the clinic. The tradeoff: it takes 6–8 hours to travel to most international destinations.
  • Housing: It’s far more affordable to buy here than in the UK. Rental is limited but possible. There is professional support available for this.
  • You'll live 10 minutes from beaches, forests, ski slopes, and hiking trails.
  • Summers are warm (often 20–30°C), and winters snowy with temperatures down to –14°C. Be prepared for seasonal extremes: light 24/7 in summer, and short daylight hours (as little as 4h) in winter.
  • We recommend planning a winter sun break- most of us do!

Our five core values are: Broad competence, high quality, availability, personal care and flexibility.

These aren’t just words. Here’s how we live them:

  • Broad competence: We continuously invest in CPD, attending international courses and conferences, and sharing learnings across the team. Nurses are empowered to take clinical responsibility and weigh in on treatment decisions.
  • High quality: We aim for zero-pain outcomes, use modern equipment, and give cases the time they need. Consults are 30–60 minutes and we manage most cases fully in-house.
  • Availability: Our schedule includes admin time and protected lunch so that we are fully present with clients and with each other. Staff are available to help each other – whether that means scrubbing in, answering phones, or offering an extra hand without needing to be asked.
  • Personal care: Clients know and trust us, and we take time to connect. Offering someone a cup of coffee while they wait, making space for emotion, or remembering a pet’s quirks are all part of our day.
  • Flexibility: Need to swap shifts to attend a family event? Need support relocating to Sweden? We adjust and make it work, as long as we communicate clearly and look out for one another.

  • Everyone in the team, including the owners, works hands-on with patients and contributes to clinical care
  • We operate with mutual respect: no task is beneath or above anyone, and we step in wherever needed
  • Our working culture is founded on psychological safety, trust, and transparency
  • You’ll receive generous support for CPD, holidays, and wellbeing to sustain a career and a life
  • We invest in people: if you have a special interest, we’ll support it with equipment, training, and time
  • Our motto is "no drama" - mistakes are handled constructively, egos are left at the door, and everyone has each other's back
  • Weekly team meetings allow space for ideas, reflection, and resolving issues together
  • If the kennel assistant is struggling, the CEO will help clean up; if a nurse flags a concern, the vets take it seriously
  • Our team has recently attended CPD in the USA, France, Spain, and Greece, with more planned
  • We blend advanced veterinary care with the warm familiarity of a small practice: pets (and owners) feel safe here
  • We follow fear-free, rabbit-friendly, and cat-considerate principles. Zero-pain is our standard

The ideal employee is someone friendly who is an experienced clinician who can be independent in the consult room and the theatre, but is still keen to develop ideas and treatment plans as a team with us when a case gets difficult.

“Experienced” here means confident in soft tissue surgery and internal medicine, able to fully work up cases, and capable of working independently- but still humble and open to feedback. An interest in orthopaedics is a bonus!

A hunger for continuous education is something we all share here, and therefore any new team member should share our passion to learn more, both from external sources but also from each other.

To be able to voice concerns in a constructive way and to be open to others' ideas and thoughts is essential.

Our new team member also needs to be able to show compassion to clients and patients.

  • Sweden is inherently family-friendly- with highly subsidised childcare, generous parental leave, and strong work-life protections - even for non-citizens paying tax in Sweden.
  • Childcare costs are low, and you are entitled to paid leave to care for sick children (VAB system)
  • No on-call or weekend work ensures predictable family time
  • Part-time options are available (especially Sept–May), and full-time roles still come with balance
  • Clinic owners are parents themselves and understand the realities of managing work and family
  • Schedule changes for school pickups, family appointments, or illness are handled with compassion and common sense
  • Preschool & school access: Local preschools align with clinic hours. There's also a well-regarded English-language international school 15–20 minutes away.
  • No out-of-hours, no weekends
  • Clinic open Monday to Friday, 7:30 to 16:30 and depending if on consults or surgery your start time will alter.
  • Protected lunch breaks (clinic closed)
  • Part-time work possible from September to May
  • Team is proactive in supporting life logistics—whether that's covering for a school run, swapping shifts, or understanding when life happens
  • Flexibility is built on mutual trust: we give it when needed and communicate clearly to support each other

Our clinic has an environmental policy and an environmental ambassador.

Our policies include a reduction in single use articles, reduction of sevoflurane/isoflurane use and a reduction of medicine waste (bottles of medication that are not used up).

  • Willing to fully fund external structured training such as a CertAVP or similar certification
  • Open to investing in a second certificate discipline for those already certified
  • Support to grow new clinical services and shape your own area of interest
  • We have a wildlife initiative in cooperation with the county wildlife care where we offer free care for this charity. This allows us to treat endangered Swedish wildlife and means that any new staff has the opportunity to learn how to examine and treat wild birds and mammals.
  • Fear-free handling and zero-pain protocols are standard
  • Accredited for rabbit-friendly care; cat-friendly principles are followed where possible

Welfare Law and Euthanasia Culture

  • Sweden enforces strong animal welfare laws- if an animal is at risk, police can step in.
  • The cultural norm prioritises quality of life. Euthanasia may be chosen earlier than in the UK, especially in older or aggressive pets. As a vet here, you’ll need to respect owners' decisions and be comfortable with different norms around end-of-life care.
  • Uncapped paid CPD (including international travel, hotel and courses)
  • Support to pursue certificates

  • Flexible annual leave
  • Friendly, stable team with strong peer support
  • Access to advanced equipment and investment in kit based on your clinical goals
  • Profit-sharing is in place- when the clinic does well, so do you.

Registration & Relocation Support

  • Vet licensing: For UK and EU citizens, registration is straightforward and usually free. Permanent licensing (a one-time fee of a couple of hundred) is possible after a year or faster for highly experienced vets (5–10+ years).
  • Language: Swedish is not required to start. New hires are supported to learn on the job, with a nurse translating in consults and help writing notes. We use both English and Swedish in daily life at the clinic to support your learning. Most language courses locally move slowly, so we prefer a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Relocation visit: We ask candidates to visit the clinic and region before relocating to ensure it’s the right lifestyle fit.
  • Clinic owners have relocated internationally and understand the process
  • Help with accommodation, school info, and life admin if needed

Onboarding & Culture

  • Supportive start: Onboarding includes 1:1 support from a nurse, help navigating Swedish systems, and shadowing for consults and pricing.
  • Flat structure: Vets and nurses work side-by-side. No hierarchy. Everyone helps-from tricky cases to answering the phone or making coffee.
  • Kindness first: We care about people as much as patients. That includes inviting new teammates to social events, dinners, and walks to settle in.
