At The Visiting Vet Company, we are redefining small animal general practice across North Leeds and the surrounding regions.

As an independent mobile service, we bridge the gap between high-level veterinary medicine and genuine, compassionate client care.

Why We're Different:
  • Patient-Centred Environment: We examine pets where they feel safest: on their own sofa, in the garden, or on their favourite rug.
  • True Continuity: Our vets build long-standing relationships with families, seeing cases through from initial preventative care to compassionate end-of-life support.
  • Balanced Workday: By structuring our days around efficient regional routes and realistic consult lengths, we try to protect our team from burnout while maintaining exceptional clinical standards.
Whether providing routine health checks or delivering gentle palliative care, we operate with integrity and kindness.
1. Stress-Free, Compassionate Care
What it means to us: We believe veterinary care shouldn't be scary. By bringing care into the familiar surroundings of our patients' homes, we remove the anxiety of waiting rooms, travel, and unfamiliar smells.

What we look for: A vet who naturally practices low-stress, gentle handling, works with patience, and genuinely cares about making visits calm for both the pet and their owner.

2. Personal Connection & Continuity of Care
What it means to us: We aren’t a high-volume, assembly-line practice. We build long-term relationships with our clients and their pets, focusing on preventative health, tailored management of long-term conditions, and being a familiar, trusted face.

What we look for: A clinician who values unhurried consults, clear client communication, and seeing cases through from start to finish.

3. Dignity & Sensitivity (Palliative & End-of-Life Focus)
What it means to us: Providing gentle, respectful end-of-life care at home is at the heart of what we do. We believe the kindest way to say goodbye is in the comfort and quiet of home, giving families time, space, and complete empathy.

What we look for: An empathetic vet who treats peaceful home euthanasia with the deep reverence, kindness, and professional grace it deserves.

4. Independence & Clinical Integrity
What it means to us: As an independent mobile practice, we offer objective, honest advice. When treatment at home isn't possible, we advocate solely for the pet’s best interests when guiding owners through referral options.

What we look for: A confident practitioner who takes pride in clinical autonomy, high ethical standards, and always putting patient wellbeing ahead of corporate targets.

5. Environmental & Social Responsibility
What it means to us: We run an efficient, thoughtful mobile service that actively works to group visits geographically (e.g., North Leeds/Ilkley vs. Harrogate/Wetherby routes) to reduce unnecessary mileage and carbon emissions.

What we look for: A team player who respects route planning efficiency and cares about reducing our environmental footprint while serving the local community.
  • Stress-Free Environment: No chaotic waiting rooms or cramped consult spaces.
  • Time & Autonomy: 30–60 minute consult times with zero corporate targets.
  • Full Support: Nurse-backed visits for complex cases and end-of-life care.
  • Smart Route Planning: Logical regional scheduling across North Leeds to minimise driving.
  • Independent Ethos: Complete clinical freedom to do what's right for the pet.
  • Qualified & Registered: MRCVS registered with solid post-qualification experience in small animal general practice.
  • Empathetic & Calm Communicator: Builds trust instantly with clients, actively listens, and excels at guiding families through sensitive decisions and emotional end-of-life care.
  • Low-Stress Handling Advocate: Naturally uses gentle, patient, and low-stress handling techniques to make visits calm and positive for nervous or frail pets.
  • Clinically Confident & Autonomous: Comfortable making independent clinical decisions, managing chronic conditions, and performing routine mobile procedures with clear judgment.
  • Adaptable & Well-Organised: Enjoys being out and about, manages time effectively between visits, and holds a full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Values-Driven Professional: Passionate about independent practice, high ethical standards, and prioritising patient welfare over rapid turnover or sales targets.
As an independent mobile practice, we offer a supportive, human-centred work environment. While we don't have corporate perk packages, we prioritise family-friendly working by offering structured daytime routes with no out-of-hours.

We are open to discussing flexible working hours, or set working days to accommodate family or childcare commitments, and we fully honour all UK statutory parental and family leave rights.
While we don't have a corporate policy document, flexibility is built into our ethos. Because we manage our own scheduling, we can be nimble and open-minded. We are happy to discuss flexible hours, or set working days with the right candidate to ensure the role fits seamlessly into their life.
  • Competitive Salary based on experience.
  • Vehicle Provided: Fully funded electric practice vehicle (EV) for work routes.
  • Professional Fees Covered: RCVS and VDS fees paid.
  • CPD Support: Funded annual CPD allowance + days off for training.
  • No OOH: Work-life balance with daytime hours only.
  • Staff Pet Discount: Discounted care/medication for personal pets.
  • Workplace Pension & Statutory Paid Leave.

As a small, independent mobile practice, we don't hold formal certifications or external affiliations. However, inclusion, fairness, and respect are built into how we operate every day.

We actively welcome applicants from all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life, and we are committed to providing an environment where every team member feels valued, supported, and free to bring their authentic self to work.
We take a 'One Health' approach to veterinary care, connecting animal health with environmental responsibility.

Beyond driving electric vehicles and running a paperless practice, we prioritise sustainable clinical supplies—such as eco-friendly Euthabag body bags for compassionate, green end-of-life care —and use smart zonal route planning to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible.
As a small, independent practice, we don't follow rigid corporate career hierarchies.

Instead, we offer bespoke professional development. We support our vets by funding individual CPD interests (e.g., pain management, acupuncture, or palliative care), encouraging clinical autonomy, and providing mentorship to help you grow your clinical skills at a pace that suits you
For us, lowering barriers to care starts with bringing the clinic to the patient. By eliminating the stress of travel and static clinic environments, we make routine and end-of-life care far more accessible for anxious or frail pets. We practice a genuine 'spectrum of care' model—taking time to understand each family's context and offering tailored, pragmatic clinical options rather than rigid diagnostic algorithms
