Organisational background
The practice opened in 2002 with an ethos to treat pets as our own and be a supportive place to work. We have gradually expanded to be a busy, highly regarded local practice and opened a second site 3 miles away in Carrington in October 2018. The practice has remained independent since it opened and will continue to be so. We have 4 experienced vets, one of whom is leaving after over 10 years service due to a house move so we need to replace her. We train our own nurses and have a high percentage of nurses to vets and high percentage of qualified nurses.
Organisation aims & mission
We aim to treat every pet as our own. We are a community based practice who provide a high level of care to both animals and clients. Our team are our family, we look out for each other and have a high staff retention. We care.
We endeavour to always provide a high level of care to all clients by following up cases with local specialists. We have just implemented a monthly internal case discussion between vets to consider complicated cases in a more formal setting, although we have always had ongoing case discussions throughout the working day. We have found this is one of the benefits of lockdown, as with not having clients in the building, it is easier to have a second opinion from a colleague. We look after each other, and use a work whatsapp group to keep everyone in the loop. Pay day pizza happens every month!

We care, we support each other. This job can be tough but a thank you and a smile can make the difference, a good belly laugh releases everyone’s tension. Cake and chocolate also help. We are fortunate, the vast majority of our clients are lovely and this makes it a pleasure to interact with them on a daily basis.
Someone like our current vets who are amazing. Someone who is clinically proficient and enjoys coming to work and being a first opinion small animal vet!
