VETNexx is a New Zealand veterinary technology company founded by veterinarian Dr Alison Pickering and AI software architect Yash Sharma.

We are developing AI-powered telephone reception specifically for veterinary practices, supporting clinics with both daytime call overflow and after-hours client communications.

During the day, VETNexx can assist with appointment bookings, routine enquiries and messages when reception teams are busy or unavailable.

After hours, it provides clients with an immediate response when their clinic is closed, gathers relevant information and uses veterinarian-developed protocols to identify potentially urgent situations that require escalation.

Where appropriate, VETNexx can connect clients with the clinic’s nominated emergency service or integrate with veterinary telehealth providers, helping practices provide a more seamless pathway to support outside normal opening hours.

VETNexx is designed to complement veterinary teams, not replace clinical judgement. Clear boundaries separate administrative and urgency-identification functions from veterinary diagnosis and treatment advice.

Our goal is to use AI to reduce the administrative burden on veterinary teams while improving access, responsiveness and continuity of support for their clients.

Innovation with purpose
We embrace new technology when it solves real problems. VETNexx is built around the day-to-day realities of veterinary practice, using AI where it can genuinely improve workflows, client access and efficiency.
Let humans do what humans do best

Veterinary professionals are a valuable and limited resource. We believe their time should be focused on the work that benefits most from human skills — clinical judgement, empathy, communication, problem-solving and patient care. We use technology to take on appropriate routine and repetitive tasks, not to replace those human strengths.

A more sustainable veterinary workforce
We want technology to contribute to healthier, more sustainable veterinary workplaces. That means reducing unnecessary administrative pressure, supporting teams during periods of high demand and helping practices provide client support without continually asking more of already busy people.

Veterinary-led responsibility
Technology used in veterinary practice needs appropriate boundaries. We design VETNexx with veterinary oversight, defined escalation pathways and clear separation between administrative support, urgency identification and clinical veterinary advice.

Keep improving
We actively seek feedback from veterinary teams, clients and industry partners. We expect our technology and our approach to evolve as we learn what works best in real veterinary practices.

VETNexx offers veterinary professionals the opportunity to be part of an emerging area where veterinary experience, technology and innovation come together.

We value flexibility, autonomy and new ideas, creating opportunities to use veterinary skills beyond traditional clinical practice while helping shape a growing veterinary technology company.
Our ideal affiliate is a well-connected veterinary professional who understands the pressures of modern practice and can identify where VETNexx may add genuine value.

They are comfortable building relationships, networking and introducing new ideas to busy clinic managers in a practical, low-pressure way.

They also listen well, recognise opportunities for product improvement and bring valuable feedback from the profession back to the VETNexx team.
VETNexx is remote-first and built around flexibility.

Our affiliate opportunities have no fixed hours and are designed to fit around family, existing work and other commitments, allowing people to participate at a level and schedule that works for them.

VETNexx is a remote-first business and values flexibility. Our affiliate opportunities are designed to fit around existing veterinary, locum or other professional commitments, allowing participants to work remotely and choose when and how actively they participate
Our current affiliate opportunity offers complete flexibility, remote participation and the opportunity to earn additional income through successful referrals.

There are no set hours or minimum time commitment, making it suitable to undertake alongside existing veterinary or other professional work.
We’re a small international team, bringing together people from different countries, backgrounds and skill sets — from veterinary medicine to AI and technology.

Diversity is part of our story from the outset. We value different perspectives, flexible ways of working and creating an environment where people are valued for what they bring to the team.
For us, sustainability is as much about people as it is about the environment.

We want to help make veterinary careers more sustainable by using technology to take some of the repetitive workload off busy teams.

We’re also a remote-first business, keeping travel, commuting and the resources needed for a traditional office to a minimum.
As an early-stage company, we do not yet have a formal career progression structure. However, as VETNexx grows, we hope to create opportunities for people who contribute to our success to expand their involvement into areas such as business development, partnerships, product development and regional representation.

For us, welfare includes animals and people.

We want to help lower barriers to veterinary care by making it easier for pet owners to access support and understand what to do next, particularly after hours. By identifying potentially urgent situations and providing clear pathways to emergency or telehealth support, VETNexx can help pets reach the right level of care at the right time.

At the same time, we want to reduce pressure on busy veterinary teams and help them focus their time and skills where they’re needed most.
