Organisational background
Valley Vets was first established in the small Welsh Valleys’ town of Ystrad Mynach, in the 1940s. The business has expanded gradually over the last 70 years and today has a large, state of the art hospital in Cardiff, as well as four self-sufficient branch practices in the surrounding South Wales Valley area.
Valley Vets has always been a forward-thinking practice, being the first clinic in Wales to have an exotics service in the 1990s, as well as opening the first 24hr, dedicated emergency veterinary service in the UK: V.E.T.S.
We continue to be at the forefront of veterinary care with the 2019 launch of Valley Veterinary Hospital. VVH is the only facility of its kind in Wales: a busy, multi-disciplinary referral hospital that also provides 24/7 emergency care to patients from 40 practices across South Wales. We have a referral team made up of certificate holders in small animal surgery, medicine, imaging, dentistry, and ECC; as well as a diplomat-led exotics department.

Organisation aims & mission
Valley Vets’ aim is to be a truly patient-focused, client-focused and high-performing practice.
When we say that we want to be “high performing”; it doesn’t mean working to sales targets but simply that we aim to be a progressive, dynamic and cutting-edge veterinary practice that high-performing people of every background want to join, and other veterinary practices seek to copy.
At Valley Vets, it is not just what you do that is important, but how you go about achieving it.
