🎓 Beyond Clinical Practice: Why Teaching Might Be the Career You Haven’t Considered
Ever thought about teaching… but never seriously explored it?
We’re sitting down with Pippa, Katie & Paul from the SRUC School of Veterinary Medicine and Biosciences to talk honestly about careers in veterinary education.
Not just job titles, but:
- What the work actually looks like
- Why people make the move into teaching
- The impact of educating future vets and animal scientists
- And the opportunities available within SRUC’s growing School
If you’re curious about what else your veterinary or bioscience background could open up, this one’s worth your time.
Make sure you register to attend live, ask your question (and receive the recording post-event).

Katie Rudd BVMS PGCTHE MRCVS
Veterinary Lecturer, Academic Lead for EMS
Katie graduated from Glasgow vet school in 2013, and worked as a small animal vet in Aberdeen until 2021, when she began working as a lecturer of various different programmes at SRUC. Pippa graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2011 and subsequently completed a PhD within the Vet School at the University of Liverpool. Her doctoral research combined Pippa’s interests in science and horses, focusing on the evaluation of equine obesity using a range of molecular and human-based approaches. Following completion of her PhD, Pippa undertook a postdoctoral position at the University of Surrey, working on investigating the effects of diet, age, and obesity on the faecal microbial communities of Welsh Section A pony mares. In 2018, she returned to Aberdeenshire to take up a position at SRUC. With the establishment of the new Vet School at SRUC, Pippa was appointed Senior Lecturer in 2023, acting as Year Lead for the first intake of BVSci students in 2024 and now as Phase Lead for Years 1 and 2 of the programme.
