Njurundas Veterinärklinik is an advanced care facility created and led by two CertAVPs with experience in the UK, Germany and Sweden. Our ethos blends high clinical standards with a culture of curiosity, compassion and constant learning.

We are a smaller clinic which means we maintain a relaxed and friendly environment for our employees and clients. We work closely as a team, supporting one another across disciplines, and believe in psychologically safe communication.

We are proudly a "drama-free zone" — for us, that means:

  • Mistakes are discussed openly and constructively
  • Everyone is encouraged to speak up regardless of seniority
  • Feedback is welcomed and valued (even for the owners)
  • We avoid gossip and passive conflict
  • Team meetings are held weekly to surface and solve issues collaboratively
  • No task is beneath or above anyone: vets help with phones, nurses weigh in on cases, and leadership loads the dishwasher
  • If something needs doing, someone steps in—no ego, just teamwork

Our caseload is a mix of referral and first opinion work. We manage most cases in-house, from work-up to recovery. Our strengths include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and exotics. We are particularly keen to expand our orthopaedic referral service and welcome colleagues who wish to shape or lead a clinical area. We are rabbit-friendly accredited, fear-free in principle, and offer pro bono wildlife care.

We enjoy long-term, loyal relationships with genuinely kind clients who trust our advice. Our team is small but mighty: experienced, caring, and always ready to help each other out.

How the nurses help:

  • Nurses take the lead on euthanasias, most vaccinations (except rabies), and blood draws
  • They are highly skilled and empowered (e.g. catching med errors, flagging issues during anaesthesia)
  • Nurses help manage consult flow, work collaboratively in theatre, and carry clinical responsibility
  • They contribute ideas and feedback in team meetings and case discussions

This is a senior veterinary position within our team.

We are looking for a confident, experienced general practitioner who enjoys working up cases and performing surgery. A strong base in soft tissue surgery and emergency case management is essential. You will be well supported and part of a high-performing, low-ego team.

While we do not currently offer equity or partnership options (we’re still in an exciting building phase), there is plenty of opportunity for autonomy, leadership, and shaping clinical services—particularly in areas like orthopaedics or other specialisms you may bring.

Viktoria described this role as ideal for someone “on par with us” in clinical experience—ready to take full ownership of their area and contribute ideas, strategy, and clinical direction alongside the owners.

Certificate holders or those wishing to pursue further study are welcome. If you bring or wish to build a clinical specialism (e.g. orthopaedics), we will work with you to grow this area.

  • 3-vet practice nestled between the sea, forest and slopes
  • Mixed first opinion and referral caseload
  • Evidence-based medicine and new, modern kit
  • Open 7.30–16.30, no OOH or weekends
  • High standard of care with a focus on surgery, dentistry and thorough work-ups
  • Genuinely friendly clients and nurses for a fantastic working environment
  • Protected one-hour lunch break (clinic closed, phones off)
  • 6–7w annual leave
  • Up to 52.000SEK/month wage
  • 2 certificate holders/advanced practitioners (exotics and diagnostic imaging)
  • Generous, paid CPD including international travel and certificates
  • Ca 90% insured patients - spend less time discussing finances and more time doing what you love
  • 30–60min consults as standard
  • Meet Swedish wildlife up-close as we also provide free wildlife care

Typical day setup:

  • Two shift types: surgery (starts at 7:30) and consults (start at 8:00)
  • Surgery mornings are protected and planned with your nurse (no consults before lunch)
  • Consult appointments are 30 minutes or 60 minutes for work-ups
  • Admin time is built into each day
  • Clinic is closed and phones are off between 12:00 and 13:00 for true rest
  • Experienced small animal vet who loves to learn and evolve clinically
  • Ideally UK experience or significant experience in Sweden
  • Positive team player with respect for our skilled nurses
  • Competent in soft tissue surgery, emergency care and internal medicine
  • Comfortable working through a full work-up
  • Fluent in English or Swedish

Merits (not required):

  • Orthopaedic surgery interest or experience
  • Certificate holder or working toward one
  • Diagnostic work-up of common emergencies
  • Surgical confidence with pyometras, foreign bodies, c-sections, and wound care
  • Basic ultrasound and radiography interpretation
  • Interest in continuing education and sharing knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Manage your own caseload from consult to discharge
  • Perform surgical procedures appropriate to your skill level
  • Collaborate on complex cases with the team
  • Participate in regular team meetings and knowledge exchange
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the clinic’s standards and services
  • Up to 52.000SEK/month depending on experience
  • Clinic hours 7:30–16:30, Monday–Friday (shift pattern depending on which service you are on)
  • Protected one-hour lunch (clinic closed, phones off)
  • Surgery and consult shifts; built-in admin time
  • No weekends or out-of-hours
  • On-site in Njurunda, Sweden
  • No regular travel required
  • Initial informal Zoom with Viktoria
  • Shortlisted candidates invited to visit the clinic (travel support considered)
  • Opportunity to meet the team and see the area

We ask that all serious candidates visit the clinic before relocating. Living in northern Sweden is a lifestyle shift, and we want you to be confident it’s the right fit- for you and for us.

  • While the role is on-site, flexibility is provided for appointments and personal needs (e.g. leaving early, working around commitments)
  • The team adapts and supports each other when unexpected events arise
  • Truly protected lunch breaks (clinic closed, phones off)
  • Team culture focused on pacing work to match complexity
  • Nurses handle many routine tasks (euthanasias, vaccinations, bloods)
  • Realistic daily workload with gaps and admin time
  • We’ll help you register with the Swedish veterinary board. It’s usually free and doesn’t require Swedish upfront.
  • Permanent registration follows after a year of work (or earlier if you have 5–10+ years’ experience or additional training).
  • We guide you through all the paperwork- our team has been through it too!
  • We do ask that candidates visit us in person before relocating, to get a feel for the lifestyle and environment.
  • Clinic owners have relocated internationally and understand the process
  • Help with accommodation, school info, and life admin if needed

Please see our Company Profile for more details.

  • Paid CPD (including international travel and courses)
  • Support to pursue certificates
  • Fear-free principles and rabbit-friendly accreditation
  • Flexible annual leave
  • Friendly, stable team with strong peer support
