Organisational background

Export Vets was set up by Dean Halligan in 2003 to provide certificates for Products of Animal Origin (dairy, meat, meat products) that are exported worldwide.

The business expanded in January 2021 due to the demand for European certificates following Brexit. We are now a team of four vets (two full-time, two part-time) and three Certifying Support Officers (CSOs).

Nicky, one of our CSOs was a head Veterinary Nurse but made the transition from clinical practice, as have all of the vets.

Organisation aims & mission

Our mission is to provide an excellent service to our customers to allow their products to be moved around the world.

Our team values are dedication to our customers, support for each other, and great communication with customers, coldstore teams, and our colleagues.

  • We are a small, friendly team who support each other.
  • We are patient in training new staff and have a proven track record of doing this.
  • The job allows you to work regular working hours with flexibility if it is required.

Our ideal employee would be an Official Veterinarian with OCQ (V) ES, EX and PX exams taken and passed. However, previous experience as an OV is not essential, we are happy to train you on the job.

We need someone who enjoys working in a team, albeit a small one, and can communicate well with non-veterinary personnel. We work with different groups of people (teams in cold stores who load our products and dairy and meat customers) and an efficient working day is made easier if you can be personable.

Basic computer skills are required to produce the certificates.
